Privacy Policy

Last Updated: January 15, 2025

At SharpTie System, we take your privacy seriously. This document explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal information when you use our financial modeling education services.

We're committed to transparency. If something here doesn't make sense, reach out. We're happy to walk you through any section in plain language.

1 Information We Collect

We collect information directly from you when you interact with our platform. This happens during registration, course enrollment, or when you contact us with questions.

Personal Identification Data

  • Full name and preferred name for course certificates
  • Email address for account access and course communications
  • Phone number if you opt to receive SMS updates about courses
  • Professional background details when relevant to course placement
  • Payment information processed through secure third-party providers

Learning Activity Information

We track your progress through courses to help you pick up where you left off. This includes completed modules, quiz results, project submissions, and time spent on different sections. We use this data to improve course content and identify where students might need extra support.

Technical Data

Like most websites, we collect technical information about how you access our platform. This includes your IP address, browser type, device information, and pages you visit. We use this to fix technical issues and make sure our site works well across different devices.

2 How We Use Your Information

Everything we collect serves a specific purpose. We don't gather data just to have it sitting around.

Data Type Primary Use Retention Period
Account Information Service delivery and access management Active account + 3 years
Course Progress Learning continuity and certification Active account + 5 years
Payment Records Transaction processing and tax compliance 7 years (legal requirement)
Communication Logs Support quality and issue resolution 2 years

We send emails about your enrolled courses, upcoming sessions, and important platform updates. You can adjust these preferences in your account settings, though some transactional emails (like password resets) are necessary for security.

3 Data Protection Under South Korean Law

As a service operating in South Korea, we comply with the Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA). This means we follow specific rules about how we handle your data.

Under PIPA, you have the right to know what personal information we hold about you, request corrections to inaccurate data, and ask us to delete your information when it's no longer needed for its original purpose.

We've appointed a Data Protection Officer who oversees our compliance with privacy regulations. If you have concerns about how we handle your data, you can contact them directly through the information at the end of this document.

Cross-Border Data Transfers

Some of our service providers (like cloud hosting) may process data outside South Korea. When this happens, we make sure appropriate safeguards are in place through standard contractual clauses and security measures that meet PIPA requirements.

4 Sharing Your Information

We don't sell your personal information. Period. But we do share data with specific partners who help us run the education platform.

Service Providers We Work With

  • Payment processors who handle credit card transactions securely
  • Cloud hosting services that store course materials and user data
  • Email service providers for course communications
  • Analytics tools that help us understand how students use the platform
  • Customer support software for managing inquiries

Each of these providers is contractually required to protect your data and use it only for the specific services they provide to us. They can't use your information for their own purposes or share it with others.

Legal Requirements

Sometimes we're legally required to share information with government authorities. This might happen if there's a valid court order, law enforcement investigation, or regulatory inquiry. We'll only share what's legally required and will notify you when possible unless prohibited by law.

5 Security Measures

We take reasonable steps to protect your data from unauthorized access, alteration, or destruction. But it's worth being realistic here — no system is perfectly secure.

Technical Safeguards

We use industry-standard encryption for data transmission (TLS 1.3). Passwords are hashed and never stored in plain text. Our servers are protected by firewalls and undergo regular security audits. Access to user data is restricted to employees who need it for their specific job functions.

We also use secure authentication protocols and monitor for unusual account activity. If we detect something suspicious, we'll contact you directly.

Your Role in Security

Choose a strong password and don't reuse passwords from other sites. Log out when using shared computers. If you think someone has accessed your account without permission, change your password immediately and let us know.

6 Your Privacy Rights

You have specific rights regarding your personal data. Here's what you can do and how to do it.

Access Your Information

You can request a copy of all personal data we hold about you. We'll provide this in a structured, commonly used format within 30 days. There's no charge for this unless your request is clearly excessive or repetitive.

Correct Inaccurate Data

Found a mistake in your profile? You can update most information directly in your account settings. For data you can't change yourself, contact our support team and we'll fix it within a reasonable timeframe.

Delete Your Account

You can request account deletion at any time. We'll remove your personal information within 30 days, though we may retain certain records for legal compliance (like payment history for tax purposes). Course certificates you've earned will remain valid even after account deletion.

Withdraw Consent

For any data processing based on your consent (like marketing emails), you can withdraw that consent whenever you want. This won't affect the lawfulness of processing before you withdrew consent.

To exercise any of these rights, email us at help@sharptiesystem.com with "Privacy Request" in the subject line. We may ask for identification to verify your identity before processing requests involving personal data.

7 Cookies and Tracking

We use cookies to make the platform work properly and to understand how students interact with course content. You can control cookie settings through your browser, though some functionality may be limited if you block essential cookies.

Types of Cookies We Use

  • Essential cookies that enable basic site functions like login and course access
  • Performance cookies that help us understand which features students use most
  • Functional cookies that remember your preferences and settings
  • Analytics cookies (with your consent) that help us improve course content

We don't use advertising cookies or share cookie data with advertising networks. Our analytics are focused on improving educational content, not tracking you across the internet.

8 Changes to This Policy

We update this privacy policy occasionally to reflect changes in our practices or legal requirements. When we make significant changes, we'll notify you by email and through a prominent notice on the platform.

The "Last Updated" date at the top of this page shows when we last modified the policy. We encourage you to review it periodically. Continued use of our services after changes take effect means you accept the updated terms.

9 Children's Privacy

Our courses are designed for adults and professionals. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you're a parent and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we'll delete it promptly.

If anything in this policy is unclear or you have concerns about your data, reach out to us.
